Description

Description

Saadani National park is one of the last Coastal nature reserves in Africa and as such offers a unique experience.

The original concept of conservation and socio economic reform has persisted through the years and the local villagers are responsible for building, maintaining and renovating Saadani Safari Lodge. The enthusiasm for nature is second to none and what makes the Lodge even more interesting is the absence of coconut trees along the shore line which means the indigenous plants of the Savanna are conserved and ancient plant life thrives.

Accommodation
The accommodation at Saadani Lodge consists of just 10 ocean front cottages and suites. The 3 twin rooms have two single beds each, 5 doubles have a double bed inside and an alfresco day bed outside surrounded by mosquito netting.

The new Siri Suite is the pride of Saadani with a private swimming pool, personal chef, private daily safaris and an upgrade to all inclusive which is exclusive to the Siri Suite.

The beach at Saadani disappears on the horizons in each direction. From the veranda of your cottage you can stroll barefoot to the ocean and explore the sands for a wide variety of animal prints. No where else in the world can you see the footprints of lions or elephants heading to sea for a swim.

Environment and Local Community
Saadani Safari Lodge has set up a sister non-profit company called SANA (Saving Africa’s Nature).

SANA aims to preserve areas of animal habitat and nature and key to this is collaboration with the local communities.

SANA invests in education and developing entrepreneurial ventures for the local communities to help them to grow out of poverty and also reduce the impact of human activities on the environment.

Educational Centre.
SANA is collaborating with The Kesho Trust to establish an environmental education centre. The centre will provide environmental education to students and people from the surrounding communities. Centre is also themed to provide a centre for the researches on the different environmental issues.

School
Education is a critical factor in the socio-economic development of the region. SANA pro-actively assists the local primary and secondary schools. This year they have rebuilt the school in Saadani village - providing a safe and stable environment for children to study in and also sponsors the yearly tuition fees for a growing number of students. Kind guests of Saadani Safari Lodge have donated the majority of the educational material being used.

Our Opinion
Its close proximity to Zanzibar and precious individualism makes it the ideal choice for those wanting a dual holiday of safari followed by relaxation, most importantly without losing days to travelling overland or by air between camps and lodges.

The Honeymoon Cottage and brand new Siri Suite offer privacy and romance in one of the most diverse National Parks in Africa. Game viewing form your luxuriant day bed with a glass of champagne and your true love is the thing dreams are made of.
