Dar House is positioned along the beautiful and isolated shores of Michamvi Pingwe. Literally right on the beach, you have your own private house; one big suite for one private group to enjoy, but best of all, without the adjacent hotel.

The house has its own very talented chef and manager, plus housekeeping, a gardener and a watchman, each there to serve you discreetly as and when you require. The ethos of the lodge is to take good care of its guests, but only as required in order to offer as much freedom and privacy as possible.

Accommodation

The house is large enough to sleep 8 comfortably. There are three large en-suite bedrooms that have each been designed and furnished in what the lodge calls “tropical chic” style. Facilities include a large “serpentine” pool that weaves through the tropical garden that surrounds it, a deck for dining and lounging that looks out to the sand and lagoons, and an inner courtyard where you have complete privacy.

Facilities

The food is simple and fresh, mostly very local and generally organic, coming whenever possible from the beach out front and the garden out back. The drinks are varied and chilled, of a fine quality but not of a premium, but then if that’s what you want, then they can do that too.

Other Activities

Michamvi Pingwe is a pristine beach as tropical as they come and best of all, it remains pretty much untouched by tourism. It was recently featured in Vogue UK and has just two restaurants, one a thatched beach shack, and the other perched atop a large rock. There are a few different hotels a short walk away if you fancy a bit of variety, plus a dive centre just 10 minutes walk along the beach at Karafuu.

Our Opinion on Dar House Zanzibar

Dar House is a welcome addition to the Zanzibar portfolio and we think it represents good value for money. The house is neatly finished and the staff are great fun. We feel that the best part about it is the service. Dar house is designed to give you the ultimate privacy, yet there are always someone available to help you with whatever you require.
